Located in a lush valley at the base of the Ko’olau Mountains, Hawaii’s Valley of the Temples Memorial Park is about as peaceful a location as you’ll find. Filled with tropical flora and fauna, and complete with swans, Koi and other exotic wildlife, the valley is home to memorials of all faiths. Here you’ll find statues of the Virgin Mary, Christ, and the Buddha; as well as the popular Byodo-In Temple.

A replica of the United Nations World Heritage Site Byodo-In Temple in Uji, Japan, Oahu’s smaller version is popular amongst tourists and locals alike largely for its peace / sacred bell, or bon-sho. The three ton brass bell stands five feet tall and ringing it said to purify the mind and bring blessings, happiness and a long life.

There are several areas in and around the temple that have been designed for meditation and it is common to find people in contemplative reflection or meditation throughout the area.
