Rarely do you see so many raves on a Yelp page as you do for Honolulu’s Owens & Co. “What a charming boutique!” gushes one reviewer. “If you like CUTE and UNIQUE… this is the shop for you,” recommends another. “I can always find a gift here for someone… and myself!” admits one local.
But this is the kind of effusive praise the Chinatown shop elicits. Owner Missy Owens Mull—who received rave Yelp reviews herself as a welcoming presence—has created and curated a shop filled with delightful items from around the world. Mull offers stationary, clothing, towels, jewelry, cutlery, and even potted plants. Owens & Co. also sells pieces by local artists and artisans, such as Jen Homcy’s Foundwood cutting boards.
So what’s the link between all of these disparate offerings? Besides their uniqueness, each piece makes for a great gift—something a loved one, friend, or coworker will appreciate for its quality and quality of thought.
“I pick things that I love,” Mull told Honolulu Magazine. “Linens, fragrances… I source from all over. I’m trying to feature things that other stores don’t have.”
