The Maui Film Fest Honors Two Hawaiian Heroes

We’re a proud sponsor of the Maui Film Festival. As such, this is the second post of a three-part series on this amazing event. Read the first post here. And don’t forget to check out our ad in the festival e-book here.

There are many reasons why the Maui Film Festival is different from that of others, not least of which is the laid-back atmosphere. But another reason is the 2013 fest’s commitment to honoring two Hawaiian heroes.

This year, seafaring pioneers Eddie Aikau and Nainoa Thompson will be celebrated with a Visionary Award Tribute “for living lives beyond limits, outside of fear.”

“The Maui Film Festival is deeply touched to have the privilege to present 2013 Visionary Awards, given previously to only H.H The 14th Daiai Lama, to both the Aikau ‘ohana in memory of Eddie Aikau and to Nainoa Thompson,” said fest director Barry Rivers. “Both men have helped guide not only the mission of the Maui Film Festival, but even more importantly, people all over the world to navigate their personal life journeys in service to the great good.”
