Kailua is a beautiful beach community on the windward side of Oahu, located just 30 minutes from the hustle and bustle of busy Waikiki. The town is known for its breathtaking white sand beaches and some of Kailua’s most stunning luxury vacation rental properties are located along this majestic coastline.
Things to Do
Because Kailua is a beach community one of the first things you’ll notice is that it has at a slower pace, and a more laid back feel than Honolulu and Waikiki. The main attraction in this town is the beautiful Kailua Beach. Guests staying in one of our beautiful Kailua luxury vacation rentals will enjoy lounging on its powder soft sand or trying their hands at of the many water activities offered along its shoreline. The outdoors reign supreme on this side of the island and hiking is a favorite pastime for visitors. Take a walk through the serene Valley of the Temples. Located in a lush valley at the base of the Ko’olau Mountains, Oahu’s Valley of the Temples Memorial Park is about as peaceful as it gets. Filled with tropical flora and fauna, and complete with swans, Koi and other exotic wildlife, the valley is home to memorials of all faiths. Here you’ll find statues of the Virgin Mary, Christ, and the Buddha; as well as the well known Byodo-In Temple. You can also hike to the summit of the nearby Diamond Head crater in under an hour where you’ll be treated to panoramic views of the coast. If you enjoy snorkeling, Hanauma Bay is a short distance away and part of the Marine Life Conservation district. The reefs here are home to many of Hawaii’s most colorful underwater creatures including Hawaii’s state fish the humuhumunukunukuapuaa. The latter also happens to be the longest word in the Hawaiian language. If you’re lucky, you’ll also catch a glimpse of our amazing green sea turtles at the bay. Golfers staying in a Kailua vacation rental can get a game in at the Royal Hawaiian Golf Club or one of Oahu’s 40 other courses. Families with small children will enjoy Sea Life Park or the Hawaiian Adventures Water Park.
Our luxury vacation rental properties in Kailua are located next to the two best beaches on Oahu. Kailua Beach Park offers a half-mile of powder-soft white sand, calm waters and is a popular spot for windsurfing, swimming and parasailing. This is the perfect place for a picnic with tables located throughout the park and full facilities. Lanikai Beach is located right next to Kailua with the same beautiful sand and calm waters. Lanikai sees slightly less traffic than the latter though it’s harder to access and there are no facilities. There is a saying in Hawaii, “Never turn your back on the ocean”. It can be wonderfully calm one minute, but all it takes is one large wave to whisk you out in to dangerous waters. Always exercise caution when visiting Hawaii’s beaches and never leave children unattended.
