Fine Dining in Hawaii Cafeterias

Hawaii is trending in the farm to table trend.  Educating our youngsters for a profession in the food industry is also offering an experience in fine dining at school cafeterias.  The Maui Community College offers diners the opportunity of enjoying a meal prepared and served by its culinary students.

The Class Act offers a variety of cuisine twice a week during the regular school year.  Sample everything from Classic French Fair to Moroccan Influence.  For less than $35 a person you can enjoy a three course lunch.

The Hilo Community College offers a similar program.  All year students practice in The Café, preparing mouthwatering meals utilizing fresh local sustainable foods including local beef and vegetables grown in the agricultural program at HCC.  Come Spring students are ready to showcase their skills in the Bamboo Hale.  The most expensive meal on the menu is $17.25. A similar quality would run you close to $60 at any island resort restaurant.  All the proceeds go back to the culinary program offering our youngsters a better chance of success in the popular service industry.
