Maui’s Seven Sacred Pools…Make This Your Next Family Adventure!!

Seven Sacred Pools - Maui, Hawaii

Hawaii Hideaways is proud to present information about one of Maui’s natural wonders! Seven Sacred Pools is beautiful and will not disappoint! To get to Seven Sacred Pools you need to take Highway 30 to Hana which turns into Highway 31 after Hana. The parking lot is located just past Mile Marker #42 on the ocean side of the road. This series of lovely waterfalls and tranquil pools trail  through the O’heo Gulch and flows into the ocean nearby. The Pipiwai Streams feeds these falls and numerous pools (more than 7) starting 2 miles inland. But the easiest to reach and the nicest pools are located near the shoreline.

The land where the Seven Sacred Pools are situated was donated to Haleakala National Park so that the pools would forever be open to the public. Giving our island visitors the chance to explore and have a true Hawaiian experience. This is a kid friendly activity but we advise you adults to supervise and keep your young ones close by to insure safety. There is hiking, historical sites, “cliff” jumping, pool swimming, and interesting people watching. The Pipiwai Trail, above the Seven Sacred Pools, is one of the best hikes on Maui. It is 4 miles round trip, gaining 650-feet in elevation. It takes 2 1/2 – 5 hours to hike, depending on how much nature loving you do. There are several great waterfalls along the route with the final destination fall being Waimoku Falls, falling 400-feet down a sheer lava rock wall. Along the Pipiwai Trail is Infinity Pool. It has a row of thick rocks that keep you from plunging over the 200-foot waterfall during normal flow times. This pool is much more secluded than the more popular Seven Sacred Pools.

The area is always crowded on weekends and even though there is a large gravel parking lot, it is often full. Come early to get a spot or stay in Hana, only 10 miles away, to assure an arrival by 10am. Your safety is important to us as It’s not all fun and games so Hawaii Hideaways would like to ask you to make note of the following, very important information:

1. There are no lifeguards
2. Use extreme caution before jumping into the pools – check for hidden rocks and depth of pool first
3. Never dive head first into the pools
4. Lava rock is very slippery when wet so be careful
5. Bring water and snacks (all day event)
