Hawaii has many amazing local performers. Island favorites include Makana, Wille K, Amy Hanaialii, Brothers Cazimero, John Cruz and Keili’i Reichel just to name a few. Hawaiian artist’s talents are so impressive and diverse the Grammy’s have even added the genre to its annual award ceremony. When visiting Hawaii be sure to check with your Hawaii Hideaway’s concierge for performances. Talented Hawaiian musicians often perform small intimate venues and it’s a chance to see incredible performances up close and personal. Local musicians love their fans, after most performances they will come out and speak with the audience and even enjoy a cocktail. Throughout the year and all the major islands of Hawaii, Oahu, Maui, Kauai and the Big Island there are various musical festivals to be heard including, slack key guitar festivals, hula festivals, ukulele festivals, and steel guitar festivals. What visitors often don’t realize is many touring musicians stop in Hawaii as well. It’s an easy stop for major performer’s coming from Australia, and Japan on their way back to America. Over the years music fans have had the opportunity to hear Pearl Jam, Eddie Vedder, Aerosmith, U2, Lil’ Wayne, Prince, John Legend, Mariah Carey, Jack Johnson, Black Eyed Pea’s, Julio Iglesias, Alicia Keys, and so many more I can’t even list. What is not often realized is many up and coming artists perform in smaller concert halls in Hawaii. This year alone we have had the opportunity to see Mickey Avalon at Hard Rock Cafe, Maui. Last year Jason Mraz performed at Lahaina Hard Rock Cafe and this year he won two Grammy’s. Hawaii is such a special place to experience nature, but dont forget to check out some of the local culture too-you may get lucky and end up front row for your favorite musician performer.
