Café Kaila: Because You Want a Good, Hearty Breakfast

Just as surely as they need traffic lights, schools, and clinics, every neighborhood needs a restaurant specializing in breakfast. You just can’t live without it. After all, such a place serves as more than a location to eat the most important meal of the day. It serves as a meeting place—a kind of home-away-from-home—where families and friends and, yes, neighbors can gather for good talk and a good meal.

Cafe Kaila is such a restaurant. Although it’s true that the menu isn’t breaking any new ground (if you’re looking for pork belly instead of bacon, go somewhere else), it’s also true that Café Kaila has a reputation for quality food. Here, you can sit around a table and swap stories while chowing down on classics such as French toast, pancakes, waffles, and omelets. That breakfast is served all day makes it friendly for late sleepers, or those who crave breakfast food as much as we do.

But don’t take our word for it, or that of owner Chrissie Castillo (who gave the Oahu eatery her middle name). Just ask the many people waiting outside for an Italian omelet or a Belgian malted waffle.
