The tsunami brought a lot of fright to us all. Not only because of what happened to the people in Japan, but because of what could have been here in Hawaii. Thank goodness we did not experience any major damage here in Hawaii! I have been a part of the Hawaii Hideaways Ohana for the past 10 months and I’ve always felt at home in this industry but something about this night made me feel, or should I say, confirmed my place with this company. I am honored to be a part of such a great team.
We had quite a bit of guest staying at several of our homes during this time. Some families on Maui, Oahu and Hawaii. It was a restless evening as we watched the news not knowing what exactly was to come. Myself and the 2 women I work with here at Hawaii Hideaways got on the phone and contacted each and every guest we had in house at the time to insure their knowledge of the situation at hand and to give them detailed instructions on what to do in an emergency situation. Each and every one of our guest felt at ease and had a sense of calm come over them after we spoke. We monitored the situation for them and called each back throughout the night and morning with updates. Once woman in particular was so touched by our efforts to make sure she and her family were okay, she cried while thanking me over and over again. I was so moved by her honest emotion and felt so blessed to work for a company that really cared about their clients. A company that didn’t just claim to care but truly did care!
