Paia is a small artsy town with a classic beach vibe on Maui’s northeastern shore. Named one of America’s Best Small Towns by Fodors.com, the area is home to some fabulous shops and galleries, and we’ve got a collection of beautiful luxury vacation rental properties in Paia guaranteed to help make your Hawaii vacation one to remember!

Things to Do

One of the first things you’ll notice about Paia is its funky, bohemian-like vibe. The town is a hub for artists, musicians and surfers which is evidenced by its laid back pace. Paia’s roots trace back to the sugar plantation days of years gone by, but it’s now the windsurfing capital of the world. Nature lovers will enjoy hiking the lush trails surrounding the community. From the Kapalua Ridge Trail to the verdant Lao Valley, the landscape around Paia will take your breath away. Golfers will enjoy the courses at the Maui or Pukulani Country Clubs and can check out Heli-Golf for a truly indulgent golf experience. Heli-Golf offers a private chopper to fly you across Hawaii’s amazing vistas to play at the course of your choice. One of the area’s hidden gems is the Sacred Garden in nearby Haiku. Filled with lush tropical plants and beautiful orchids, this serene space invites visitors to relax, meditate, create, or simply stroll the gardens and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Maui is a small island making it easy to access all of its attractions. Lahaina is less than an hour away, and from here you can catch a charter to take you out to the Molokini Crater. This is listed as one of the top ten diving spots in the world thanks to its clear and calm waters. The crescent shape protects the area from powerful sediment disturbing surf allowing for crystal clear views of more than 250 marine species that make their home here.

Beaches

There are some excellent beaches near our Paia luxury vacation rental properties including the popular Ho’okipa Beach. This is a favorite among local surfers and is also a great place to see some of Hawaii’s Honu, or green sea turtles. Ho’okipa is good for families as small children can safely splash around in this beach’s tide pools. Baldwin Beach is a beautiful 17-acre white sand beach just west of Paia. The waves can be quite powerful here during the winter but the east and west ends have protected pools that are better for swimming. The east side is called The Cove, and the west is known as Baby Beach. Other area beaches include Paia Bay, and the Paia Secret Beach. The latter is more of an “adults only” beach as clothing is optional here.

Restaurants and Nightlife

Guests staying in a Paia vacation home needn’t travel far to eat as there are some great restaurants in the area. Cafe Mambo serves up delicious Mediterranean style cuisine and the Paia Fish Market is a family-friendly restaurant with the best fish burger on the island! You can enjoy pub faire and after-hours music at Charley’s Restaurant and Saloon, or the popular Rock & Brews.

Shopping

If you’d like to do some shopping around your Paia luxury vacation rental, look no further than Baldwin Avenue. Complete with galleries, boutique shops and one of a kind crafts, shoppers will love strolling the town’s picturesque main street. The closest shopping malls are the nearby Pukulani Terrace or the Queen Ka’ahumanu center in Waikapu.

Weather and Ocean Conditions

Our Paia luxury vacation rentals are on Maui’s north shore which is the greener side of the island. It receives more rain than other areas however showers don’t typically start until later in the day or through the evening so you can still expect a good amount of sunshine. The average temperate range is 78 F – 88 F depending on the season. Water temperatures remain consistent and generally stay between 74 F – 76 F all year long! The ocean conditions are heavily influenced by weather and wind, and can change from day to day. Please remember to exercise caution and heed the safety signs posted on area beaches as these are here for your safety.

This is a small beach town and since most visitors like to explore the surrounding communities, we recommend a rental car for your stay. There is much to see in the areas around our Paia vacation rental homes and having a car on-hand will provide ease of access to all that Maui has to offer.
