Anahola is a small coastal village located on Kauai’s north east shore. The size of Anahola gives the town serene and laid back vibe, which is perfect for those looking to disconnect and unwind. While the area is designated Hawaiian Homelands, there are some luxury vacation rental properties in Anahola which will give your Hawaii vacation the feel of a true getaway.
Things to Do
What guests enjoy most about our luxury rental properties in Anahola is the privacy that comes with being in a smaller community. Because Anahola is a quaint little village, tourists enjoy unwinding on a local beach, but venturing in to nearby Hanalei, Kapaa, or Princeville for sightseeing. With that being said, there are still some local attractions worth visiting. The Kalalea Mountain has been nicknamed “King Kong” for its close resemblance to the famous fictional primate. The beautiful Na Aina Kai Botanical Gardens are in nearby Kilauea and make for a perfect day trip. Complete with canyons, a beach, lagoons, a bronze sculpture collection and children’s garden to name just a few of the top attractions; the gardens are nothing short of breathtaking. Anahola doesn’t have its own golf course, but the Wailua and Price courses are nearby on the Kuhio Highway. Visitors may also opt to check out the local Farmer’s Market on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays while outdoor adventurers will want to make the most of Hawaii’s beautiful waters. Snorkeling, kayaking and paddle boarding are all great ways to enjoy your time in the ocean.
Our luxury vacation rentals in Anahola are close to two somewhat secluded beaches. Larsen’s Beach, also known as Ka’aka’aniu beach, is a two mile stretch of golden sand with an off-shore reef making the area great for snorkelling. The access is off the beaten track which is why it is one of the least crowded beaches on the island. Just up from Larsen’s is Waiakalua Beach. The scenery here is stunning however the waters are known for rip currents. While great for sunbathing, this beach is not recommended for swimming. The safest beach in the area can be found at Anahola Beach Park. An off-shore reef provides calmer waters for swimming and you can dry-off while catching some sun on its beautiful sand.
Restaurants and Nightlife
Kauai isn’t famous for its nightlife so this island will most appeal to those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. While some of our guests prefer to unwind on the lanai of their Anahola luxury vacation rental, others prefer to wine and dine on the town. Being small in size, you may need to venture out to one of Anahola’s neighbouring communities for something more lively but there a couple of local options worth exploring. You can’t visit Anahola without stopping in to Duane’s Ono Char Burger. What is lacks in ambiance, it more than makes up for in flavor, and Saimin fans won’t be disappointed at the Anahola Cafe and Saimin stand. Those looking for a little more activity can drive in to nearby Kapaa for a visit to the Trees Lounge or Hukilau Lanai to enjoy cocktails and live music.
The Anahola Marketplace is filled with Kauai made goods ranging from clothing to handcrafted jewellery and delicious jams and jellies. You’ll also find some great food vendors serving up local delights like Huli Huli, lua lua, and taro patties! If you’re looking to sample some fresh, locally grown citrus and greens, you’ll want to visit the Anahola Farmer’s Market. This is also a great place to try some of the island’s best homemade goodies. If you need some additional retail therapy, head on over to Coconut Marketplace in nearby Kapaa. This shopping center offers more than 30 boutique shops and eateries with the added dash of some authentic Hawaiian entertainment! You can enjoy a free Hula show every Wednesday at 5PM, and Saturdays at 1PM; or listen to the soulful sounds of local legend Larry Rivera every Friday at 5PM.
Weather and Ocean Conditions
Our luxury vacation rentals in Anahola are located on Kauai’s northeast shore. Because Anahola is a coastal town, it receives less rain than what is typically seen inland. Most of the showers occur in the evenings and any daytime rain is relatively brief. Anahola’s weather ranges from a low of 55 F to 86 F in January, and 68 F to 88 F in July, with the area receiving the most rainfall in the month of March. Ocean swells are largely dictated by weather conditions and wind. The Hawaiian trade winds blow across Kauai from the northeast, keeping things comfortable throughout the year. Because ocean conditions can change from day to day, it’s important to take precautions, heed warnings and read the safety signs posted on our beaches as these are there for your protection.
