Aliomanu is small coastal community located between Anahola and Kilauea on Kauai’s north shore. What makes this area so special are the spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean and the majestic green of Kalalea Mountain. The coastline is dotted with high-end real estate, including some of the best luxury vacation rentals in Aliomanu.
Things to Do
Our vacation rental properties in Aliomanu are best suited to those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and reconnect with nature. Aliomanu has a much slower pace than some of its surrounding communities and enjoying the great outdoors is the activity of choice in these parts! Hiking, snorkeling, swimming and kayaking are some of the top picks. Just a short drive away in Kilauea, guests can visit the historic lighthouse on Kilauea Point. Built in 1913, the lighthouse is 52 feet tall and offers an incredible view of the north shore coastline. If you’re there during whale season, you might be lucky enough to see some humpback whales breaching the surface just off-shore. If you’re a PGA fan, you already know that Hawaii has got some of the best golf in the country and two of the top-ranked courses are right here in Kauai! The golfers in your party will want to venture in to nearby Princeville to enjoy one of its championship level courses. Kilauea hosts an Art Night once per month which brings local artists out to showcase their creations, and sell their crafts. You’ll also be treated to some live music and outstanding food!
Many of our vacation rental properties in Aliomanu are fronted by Aliomanu Beach. Because access is tucked away, this is one of Kauai’s more secluded beaches. The northern end of Aliomanu Beach is beautiful but quite rocky so it’s not recommended for swimming. The south end has a small lagoon that can be used for swimming providing the surf is agreeable. The safest beach in the area can be found close-by at Anahola Beach Park. The waters are calmer here thanks to a large off-shore reef so it’s perfect for swimming while its white sand invites you to stretch out and soak up the warm Hawaiian sunshine.
Restaurants and Nightlife
As mentioned above, this is a quiet area with a slower pace so dining and night time adventures outside of your vacation rental home in Aliomanu will need to take place in one of the neighbouring communities. A great lunch option is Duane’s Ono Char Burger. This unassuming roadside shack in Anahola is small in size, but big on flavor. Duane’s serves everything from seafood to salad, and has at least ten different burgers on their menu. Just 15 minutes away in Kilauea, the Lighthouse Bistro has great food with the added bonus of a live jazz trio performing on Wednesday nights. The Kilauea Bistro is another good option for cocktails and live music.
Guests staying at our luxury vacation properties in Aliomanu can get their shopping fix in nearby Anahola or venture further east to the Royal Coconut Coast. The Coconut Marketplace and Kinipopo Shopping Center are both in Kapaa and offer boutique style shopping along with some fantastic eateries.
Weather and Ocean Conditions
Our luxury vacation rentals in Aliomanu are located on Kauai’s northeast shore. Coastal areas receive less rain than what you’ll find inland with most showers occurring in the evenings. Daytime rains are relatively brief and you’ll often find the skies clearing almost as quickly as the clouds rolled in. Aliomanu’s weather ranges from a low of 55 F to 86 F in January, and 68 F to 88 F in July. The Hawaiian trade winds blow across Kauai from the northeast which keeps things comfortable on even the hottest of days. Because ocean conditions are influenced by wind and weather, they can change from day to day. Please remember to be cautious and always read the safety signs posted on our beaches as these are there for your protection.
We recommend a rental car if staying in the area as the bulk of your adventures will take place in other parts of Kauai. If you plan to lounge poolside at your vacation rental in Aliomanu for the better part of your vacation you could easily use a taxi service, but for sake of ease in getting around, a rental car will be much more convenient.
